The first comic I remember reading when I was a kid was Calvin and Hobbes. Someone gave me a Calvin and Hobbes book, which I thought it was hilarious. I could relate to Calvin because I used to make very unusual snowmen too.
Yay! I was going to be really upset if you had mean things to say about Calvin and Hobbes. I desperately wanted my refrigerator box to turn into a real transmogrifier!
I remember my uncle had a coupple of these books. When I was REALLY little. Since most of them wern't color, I/me and my sis decided to color the hell outta them. I say REALLY little because it was just a buncha squiggly lines everywhere...you could still read them though, it was only crayon...
